Homework Task

Homework  Task

PRODUCTION:

 Pre-production:
This is where drawings of storyboards and planning takes place. You decide where the location and set would be and how it would look like, also how each and every character would look like, what props and costumes would be needed, what equipment would be needed to shoot the film, and etc.

Production:

This is where all the filming takes place, you go to the location selected and bring out all the ideas planned during the pre-production and the drawings of storyboards. All the equipment, props and costumes are used during the filming following what was planned. You also carefully follow all the shots planned beforehand, it is important to follow what has been planned and make sure that all shots have been taken as it is almost impossible to go back and re-shoot what is missing,

Post-production:

This is the stage where the editor does his work and edits the film together for the final piece. The first thing the editor does is come up with a rough cut where he brings all the rough (unedited) shots together and in order of where they're supposed to be. The editor then creates a fine cut where all the videos are put together to play smoothly. The editor then goes on to trimming and shortening scenes and also adds in all the music, effects, graphics, and etc. After this has been completed the finished piece is then approved by the director and producer and then it is 'locked'- which means no other changes can be made to it.

These are the main American film producers. There are others such as, 20th Century Fox, Pixar, Universal, Walt Disney Pictures, and etc. Sometimes ownership over the studio have impacts, for example studios such as Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar are well known for creating mainly cartoon animated movies.

Independent production is when an individual artist has complete control over the creative, editorial, and artistic side of production.

DISTRIBUTION:

Film Distribution is the process where you make movies available for viewing by an audience. Marketing strategies for the film, the type of media in which is chosen for the film to be shown to view, setting release dates and etc is all in the hands of a professional film distributor.

Before the distributor makes these decisions, they first have to make a licensing agreement with a distribution company, this particular distribution company then decides how many copies of this film they want to create for buyers so that it can be shown at cinemas, then the copies are made and the movie is screened. This is distribution and without this, movies would not be screened and promoted as well as they are.

MARKETING:

Marketing is when film is shown, advertised, and promoted to audience. Different ways of promoting are: Trailers, posters, posters, banners, internet ads, Facebook pages, and other ways through different types of social media. This is also done around the world Nationally and locally so that everyone gets to watch and understand the film and the advertising.
